Established as a registered charity for over 20 years operating fully accessible minibuses to provide affordable transport for the elderly, the disadvantaged and those with impaired mobility. A wide range of organisations, Local Authority groups and sheltered housing schemes augment their transport needs with BCT vehicles. Currently 110 groups are registered with a variety of transport needs ensuring that poor health, poverty, disability or frailty does not prevent a person from leaving their home and being part of a community.

The scheme seeks to continue services to enable older, frail and disabled people to access luncheon clubs and day centres across Bath & North East Somerset. It also provides assisted transport for day trips and enables access to other venues such as shopping centres. The scheme operates Monday to Friday and other times on request. The aim of the scheme is to promote independence and well-being.

St Phillips Community Minibus Scheme

35 Frome Road, Bath, BA2 2QF

Provides transport for limited mobility and disabled groups (15%) and ethnic minorities (11%) in top ten wards of deprivation in Bath & North Somerset. It is open to any charitable group regardless of funding and used by 3000 young people, children and older people living in small isolated rural areas using 27 volunteer trained drivers.

Keynsham and District Dial-a-Ride operates a fully accessible minibus providing a door to door service around Keynsham for anyone who cannot use conventional public transport. Operates throughout Bath & North East Somerset, except Bath. The scheme provides transport for elderly and disabled people on low income who are unable to use public transport services or Ring & Ride services. Clients benefit by having an individual volunteer to support them to be able to participate in their local community, enabling equality of opportunity and independence.

This is a new pilot scheme to help people who cannot use or do not have access to public transport to get about and help increase the numbers of passenger journeys on Community Transport services in the area.

It will also help get communities better connected for shopping, visiting banks and post offices, as well as recreational activities during the day and evening for those who do not have access to their own vehicle. Other benefits will be to create greater access to public transport routes serving nearby towns so that people can make journeys further a field.
