Toll bridge

The toll bridge over the over the River Avon at Bathampton, on the unnumbered road between Batheaston and Bathampton Village, is privately owned and has no concessions for disabled motorists.

Toll keepers on foot take the tolls at the Batheaston end of the bridge. Pedestrians, cyclists, and wheelchair and pavement scooter users cross free of charge. The pavements on both sides of the bridge itself are suitable for all but the largest scooter or wheelchair, although the staff would assist users of larger vehicles to use the roadway.
