Welcome to the Accessible Transport website (previously called Getting About Greater Bristol). This site provides travel information for disabled people. You can find services in your local authority by either using the menu or map. We welcome feedback to let us know for example if we have something incorrect, or you have new information.

We do not support Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 6 and previous Internet Explorer versions of the browser and recommend that you try one of these modern browsers to view this site.

Signvideo - BSL interpreting service

Deaf people can call Bristol City Council using SignVideo Web Access, an online interpreting service, from their own home, for free! Find out more about using this service.

If you already know how to use SignVideo then connect to a BSL interpreter through webcam instantly.

Before using SignVideo BSL Live, please ensure you meet the basic requirements:

  • Computer with a webcam
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (minimum version 7) or Firefox 3
  • Broadband internet service

Our BSL videos use the Macromedia Flash plugin - version 6 or newer.

Flash is a free, self-installing browser plugin that you can download in less than a minute. If you use a computer in a organisation or company, ask the helpdesk to install the plugin. Get the newest version of Flash

 

 

Changing text size

Some users might find screen text easier to read by increasing or decreasing the size at which text is displayed. To do this you should simply adjust your browser's settings.

  • If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer go to the View menu and select Text Size, then choose the required size
  • If you use Mozilla Firefox go to the View menu and select Text Size, then choose the required size. Alternatively, press keypads Control (Ctrl) and + or - to change screen size. Press keypads Ctrl and numerical 0 to revert back to medium size

Changing colours

It is also possible to change the colour of body text on the site. This can be achieved by changing preferences in your browser:

  • If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer go to the Tools menu, select Internet Options, select Colors and make changes to text colour in the Colors panel
  • If you use Mozilla Firefox go to the Tools menu, select Options, open the General menu and select Fonts and colors. Here you can change the text colour as well as the type of font
